Day 159 – Mile 1166.7 + 289.8: This has to be one the GREATEST days on the trail so far! ππ πππ
The essence of the day was that my uncle Jim Anderson worked in this area building log cabins 30 years ago. He, and my aunt Pen, lived with his employer and my cousin, Bec Anderson, was born there.
A local guy selling cold soft drinks at a trail crossing knew my uncle’s employer, Peter Gott, and at the end of the day, drove me to their farm where I met Peter, his wife, Polly, their daughter, Susi, and grandsons Justin and Luc. Justin hiked the trail in 2016.
I stayed at their house and they slackpacked me the following day! This trail never ceases to amaze me!!
Day 160 – Mile 1166.7 + 309.6: 20-mile slackpack on a beautiful day over Big Butt Mountain and White Rocks Cliffs. Hiked with Michael and his dog, Lissy, and James. Last 7 miles was a jog to the Gap where the Gotts took me back to their farm! I also saw the first flowering RhodedendrumsπΈ
Day 161 – Mile 1166.7 + 315.8: Food bags hung, hikers sleeping…
Your enjoyment is jumping off the page!
